A Note From Pastor Bruce
Hey Gang!
Hope you’re having a great summer out there, and taking full advantage of the gift of living in the closest place to heaven on earth…
I also hope you got to hear Mark Walker speak last Sunday in all three services: He did such an incredible job…I am so proud of the incredible man of honor he has become over the years. Who would know an E.O.D. (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) tech could be such a good speaker as well. I also wish you knew the stories he didn’t share; then you would know just how deep his character goes. God, and SPC is represented well on the battlefields of Afghanistan. SPC has had more than their share of “incredibles” over the years, and it is still in the business of creating young men and women of amazing integrity.
I will be talking this Sunday on the true meaning behind Baptism. For anyone thinking of getting baptized at our Baptismal service August 15, I highly recommend being here to hear this one…its called, Starting Over.
AND, could I encourage you to get everyone you can to the August 1 services, when we will spend the entire day talking about The Upside of Downtimes. Lets face it: The economy continues to take its toll, especially in California. It looks like we’re in for a little longer ride on the Recession Railroad, so we need a strategy to deal with it. I have assembled a panel of experts to help everyone in the mountain community get through the economic downturn with success. Bring your friends later that night for our workshops on finance, income generation, and tactics to transcend the monetary downturn we’re in.
On that front, we truly need to band together: Not only our individual folks are challenged in this time, but the Church as a whole is as well. I need every friend I have to consider giving a little more, (some of you even more than a little!) because… well, either a month or two from now, we will have a staff,… or a building, but not both. I’m not kidding, or exaggerating. It is that bad. No one else is coming to our rescue, and I need you to earnestly pray God will provide. We have never been so challenged. I am giving up my salary for the remainder of the summer, as are two other staff, and yet another staff is giving up 50% of their salary. For those of you who don’t tithe yet… this is the time to put God to the test, as He invited us to in Malachi 3:10. Try tithing (giving 1/10th of your paycheck) and see if He doesn’t return the favor in ways you cannot imagine! God always honors His children’s efforts in faith. And we need to use our faith right now!
